New smoke pole
Not my first rodeo. Been hunting with black powder since I was 14. Killed my first deer with my dads .50 cal TC Hawken. Couldn't hold the gun up and shoot offhand and was too short to see over the sagebrush sitting down so dan fabbed up some cross sticks for me to shoot off of and got the job...- Fj40mojo

New smoke pole
Just finished this build. Cabela's Hawken kit in .54cal. Plum browned the barrel. Still have to make a better ramrod for it but its shootable now.- Fj40mojo

Need to vent
Prayers sent. I applaud you for the career choice you've made, it's not for everybody but certainly needed. I did the first responder thing for a while and found I couldn't decompress for days after a call. No way I could do it long term. Would have destroyed me.- Fj40mojo

Nice pic but you took the quote out of context. I hardly see how mounting my own base, rings and scope could result in what is pictured. I don't advise anyone work on their own firearms unless they are confident in their ability to do so safely. Yadda yadda yadda. -

Manufacturers found ways around the ban and continued to sell their products. Had the legislation included some of the items proposed in this one, for instance registration and no sunset clause, I'm guessing it would have resulted in law suits that would have been heard by SCOTUS, but as the ban...- Fj40mojo

Depends on how thick that inlay is but all you can do is try. May be venear, may be 1/8" block. If it's just venear you probably have a good chance of saving the stock and cutting some weight off. I've refinished a couple of those old 721s and there is a lot of extra wood on them. You may also... -

Depends on your skill level. I think most guys can pull off installing a composite stock, possibly even glass bedding it. Trigger work is not rocket science either and you can find instructions for most factory triggers on the interwebs and installation of a Timney or other after market trigger... -

I think you are wrong on so many fronts. There are no "more reasonable controls and concessions". They aren't able to enforce the gun laws they already have on the books, besides whats reasonable to you or I is obviously not reasonable to the likes of Feinstein or Biden.
