Dang it Randy, I respect you for not letting out unit numbers and all.....until you're in my neck of the woods. I'm convinced I know this area. Congratulations! With this hot droughty weather, it's been rough for lot's of folks.
I don’t have experience with 5 different brands of glass in that range. But, I would say at least consider Meopta. I have the 10x42s Meostars and really like them. I’ve heard good things about their higher magnification ones too.
Trying different glass would be best, but I understand that can...
I have done this and that's probably the main reason I haven't bought a spotter yet. I even considered just getting some 15x binos, but I think I'd have more use for the spotter than the 15s with the way I hunt. I figure even with a spotter, I'd be behind binos the majority of the time.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll keep my eyes open for deals. Let me know if any of you want to part with your spotter ;)
Does anyone know how the SX4 fits into the Leupold line? How does it compare to the GR series? I just haven't heard much about them.
I've bought through Pat before...
Someone talk to me about spotting scopes.
I currently run Meopta MeoStar binos. Right now, I don’t have the funds to buy a top end spotter, but I’m getting anxious. I’m getting tired of chasing elk/deer/antelope with only my 10X42s. I’ve been successful without a spotter, but I’ve also been in...
I bought a 20 and hardly ever pick up my 12's anymore. I use a 20 for everything from waterfowl to turkey. Both will work, it's just personal preference.
Looking for a copy of “North American Elk - Ecology and Management” by Jack Ward Thomas. I’ve always heard Randy talk it up and decided now would be a good time of life for some heavy reading.
Problem is I can’t find it reasonably priced anywhere. Any ideas or spare copies floating around?
I’ve typically been a Duplex reticle guy for all my hunting rifles. However, I’m eyeing the Leupold vx3i 4.5x14x40 CDS with side focus and 30mm tube. This scope only comes in the Wind Plex reticle. The 50mm one comes with Duplex, but I’ve never used that big of a bell in the mountains.
I’m...
Lots of elk in that area but I agree with Thusby. Bears Ears is a circus. OnX is your friend. You have to use the hunting pressure. It’s part of the game. Welcome to HT
Not sure how similar it would be, but I have a buddy who is a Tikka nut and absolutely raves about practicing with his T1X. I think Bergara came with a rimfire in their B-14 series as well. I'm pretty ignorant myself though...all my 22s are SA or Levers.
