This was years ago. Wasn't my pistol or ammo. So I am not sure. I do know it was +p. When we skinned the bear they were not in very far. I am guessing HP.
Shot a wounded bear with a 45. Don't recommend. Caught shoulder and barely penetrated with a couple. Finally missed muscle and bone. Straight lung. And dead
Those roads can be great and all of a sudden not. Especially at the bottom of hills. Problem is guys get comfortable and start driving fast. Hit frost rifts and lose it. I dont worry to much about those roads but the amount of accidents suggest caution be taken. As far as boredom. You must...
100% I posted this exact thing. When did Caribou become a premier hunt worth that money. On the other hand there is still a few decent accessible hunts that dont require bush flights and are not the haul rd or draw. But nobody is going to tell you where. Gotta research it.
Depends who you get it from when. I paid $2500. Total due up front. Thats for 2 weeks+. But yeah the closer it gets the higher it gets. And if you dont pay 100% upfront and choose to pay 100% at the counter like through expedia those reservations get lost. Mostly because you agreed to $2500...
I have used them. Zero issues. I actually had a reservation through them for this fall. Then I started seeing rumblings of more then one person getting hosed when they went to pick up. I reached out to make sure I was all good. I got no response so I emailed. Again no response. I canceled...
I haven't rented a vehicle for the Haul rd but have for the McCarthy road , Steese hwy and Taylor Hwy. I use private rental companies and tell them where ai am taking it. They dont give you the nicest. Some have and extra fee. Some you have to convince them that this isnt your 1st rodeo...
It is. But I am guessing Turo provides insurance which is likely how they are saying no. My insurance won't cover my truck if I rent it out. But Turo would.
It is being reported that Turo has now prohibited the Haul rd. This after UHaul announced they will enforce their existing policy against Haul rd use. Choices are getting limited.
Correct. Some tundra is worse then others. One of my buddies this fall has hunted New Foundland quite a bit. He has convinced himself that New Foundland tundra has prepared him for Alaskan tundra. And nothing can convince him other wise. Guess he will learn when we pack in
We have 10 kids planned to hunt this. Maybe 12. Its hard to imagine paying much more per kid/family. Its subsidized with them paying less then half. But I can't imagine paying more then that. Crazy
