4 of us drove to a fellow contractor's family lodge last Thursday after work. He has a 500 yard range set-up and we've been trying to plan a get together for some time now. Took a 7 ultra mag and a 300 win mag. The owner shot a 7 mag rem sendero. He shot low, adjusted his scope and rang the target the next two times. Shooter number two had a sako 300 wsm with a Lupe B&C reticle and hit it 3 times in succession. #3 shooter missed with his 25-06 and AR.

I fired 9 rounds in all from both rifles and am still scratching my head.

Steaks over oak coals and a bottle of Concannon Merlot afterwards...great felowship and hospitality.

Sounds like a good afternoon. I love shooting the gong at long range, something rewarding about the bing sound a couple seconds after the recoil.:D

The steaks were excellent trevore.

The best shooter was a 70 year old general contractor. He also hit it with a borrowed Rock River that my bud had just sprayed .223's all around the target with. Dude was a steady shot.

Old age and treachery will overcome youth and agility purt near every time. My 78 yr uncle used to whip my butt every time we hit the golf course; never did beat him.

Sounds to me like you need a new gun.
Or more practice! ;)

Wife and BBSY (oldest) will be out of town this weekend, so BBKY (youngest) and I are gonna take a bit of a trip and check out a 1000yd range not too far from here. I have a new rifle that, once scoped, I want to try out at distance.

500yds is a long shot. Been trying to set up a shoot with some friends, but this job I am on just will not end. Shooting & hanging out with freinds is a great way to spend the day & I just can not wait.
