My son got his first antelope buck last year and fell in love with hunting antelope. He wanted to put in for doe this year so we did hand he drew a cool unit here in UT. We had never hunted it but had been in the area and it's a cool place. Yesterday was opening day for the hunt. We got in Wednesday and did some scouting and found quite a few antelope, but knew that we would have to play things just right because of how open everything is. Thursday morning we went out and started finding small groups around 8:00. We made a stalk on a group of 3, but they had us pegged and we kept trying to circle around them, but they would just continue to move to keep the distance at least 1000 yards. We had seen another group and I told my son that we should circle around a rise and see if we could see them. As we were walking he said "what is that running?" I put my binos on them and it was a herd of about 12 running directly toward us. We hit the ground and they came into about 45 yards, but we were on the downward side of the rise and all we could see were their ears. They started walking around the rise a bit and I told my son to readjust on the gun because they would come out on the other side. He did and they did exactly like I thought they would. He waited for one to stop and dropped her at about 85 yards about 1.5 hours into his hunt. There's nothing better than hunting with your kids and seeing them have success. Love it!IMG_1864.jpeg
