Hello everyone, this is my first post. What's your load? I dont have a load yet. I do got some 180 grain partitions and accubonds. And some reloader 22 and a few other powders. And what primers do you use?
I’m using 62.5 of rl 22 and 165’s, cci large rifle primers in Nosler brass, velocity is close to 3 grand, like 2950-90 depending on outside temperature.
An whole lot of elk are killed every year by Remington Core Lokt. Put the bullet in the right spot and it does a great job and at 17$ a box I can't even reload them that inexpensive.
I run 61.5 gr RL 22 and 180gr partitions for 2875fps.
63.5 gr of rl 26 net 2865 FPS with the 180 pt.
Both loads will go under MOA. But RL 22 is
slightly more accurate.
I have a 24 inch barrel, even so, I’ve checked those velocities on a couple different chronographs, the numbers are good out of my rifle.
165 grain Hornady Interbond with 56.5 of RL 17, CCI 200 Win brass. Average over the magneto speed is 2870 fps from a 22.4 inch SAKO 85. Sweet load, 4 elk with 3 complete pass throughs. Very accurate load in the SAKO.
Nosler 165 gr. Accubond or Partition
Winchester brass - Federal 210 match primers
IMR4350 - 57.4 grs. with either bullet.
Both bullets shoot amazingly with this load and I did not have to change it up at all switching from one to the other. I've had great luck with Partitions, and Accubonds also. An Accubond in my 280AI 140 grs. was used on my grizzly bear last fall. One shot!
