P1010328.jpgLast season then ten-year old grandson, Caden took a 3x4 mule deer buck and was then passionately intent on upping his game. Earlier he shot high uphill and missed a huge 4x4 muley buck, a big deer that excitedly impressed, then depressed his dad. Boyhood disappointment set in and he sobbed loudly and beat himself up for a "bad" shot. Only relief was discovering his tumble in the snow had skewed the crosshairs and his "POS" scope was off. His dad stowed the 243 and Caden then shot and hunted with a 25-06 with 100 grain Barnes bullets, one of which went completely through the pictured buck and dropped him one-shot, to Caden's delight. The now eleven-year old hunter was ecstatic and thankful to take a "non-typical 4x4" with really cool antlers.

Dad is understandably proud ... and grandpa is concerned about how this young hunter is going to top that trophy, but also proud and pleased that young hunting passion is a legacy being passed on.
(BTW, the dad began accompanying grandpa on hunting trips beginning at age six. If you see a Chevy pickup with "HNTMAX" license plates and some blood on the tailgate ... that's Dad!)
