huntRme, a very good story. Icefishing and enjoying some adult bevs. My wife got into a good northern and it started spinning in the hole, I couldn't get the gaff in it. Well I decided to just grab the steel leader and pull the fish out, forgetting that the rigs have 2 hooks a piece. The top hook was stuck at the knot above where i grabbed it. Fish decides it's a good time to go back down the hole and pulls hard setting the top hook in my hand and breaking the steel leader at the same time. The hook is now firmly in my hand and the fish is now free and sliding back down the hole. In true redneck fashion I ignored the hook and dove for the hole, grabbed the fish and threw it on the ice. Then my two buddies start talking about how they are going to extract it. They've both had more to drink than me, so I shut that down real quick. I took the leather man and gave it all I could take pulling. I took a quick breather and went at it again, popping the hook out after some effort.
