Those of you in the Midwest are all familiar with the Outdoor News. It's been a mainstay in the Midwest since I was a kid. They asked me to craft a piece that encourages hunters and anglers to vote based on records, not party.

Bill Parcels was famous for telling a reporter, "You are who your record says you are." It was a classic Parcels response to not make excuses or try to BS somebody - your record is what it is, so own it and quit pretending it is something else.

In Parcel's case, it applied to football. But, it also applies to our elected officials.

Too many elected folks want to tell us one thing and their voting record shows something different. Over the last couple years, my tolerance for the lip service of elected officials has diminished to zero. I've used this Parcels quote more and more when talking to them or their staff. Usually, there is no response and it's usually an uncomfortable quiet for a little while.

Thankful to them for asking me to write this piece. Make sure you vote.

Cool deal Randy, i look forward to reading it when i grab the paper from my mailbox today.

Outdoor news has been a mainstay my whole life. Still remember being excited about seeing my fish grip and grins in the paper as youngster 36 years ago. Dad has been a subscriber my whole life and I still look forward to paging through each week.

Good work, Randy. Thanks for spreading the word.

Outdoor News has been a staple for a long time. I recall as a kid we'd buy my dad a new subscription every year for Father's Day or his birthday or something.

I need a Randy Newberg cheat sheet. A list of the most important bills at top and how our members of congress has voted and a Randy rating.

I agree, and you need to look at what the politicians without a voting record did in life versus what they say they are going to do. In a couple of our races, there is no incumbent, so there is no voting record.
