You all collectively made my first Pronghorn hunt a success... I think I may have to try Elk now

This is kind of one of those "I'm not looking for someone to give me there best spots, but....." kind of post.

I am breathing down the neck of 60, and I only have 7 WY elk points, but with point creep I'm not sure I'll ever get any closer before I'm too old to hunt. I am predominantly a bow hunter and always dreamed of killing an elk with a bow, but I may need to rely on a rifle. Like I said, I have 7 points now, but I live in Kansas so there isn't really an opportunity for me to scout.

So, what I'm getting at is that if any of you have any suggestions (I am also doing my homework) as to a general area or unit to help me narrow it down I'd be very grateful. Like everyone says "I'm not looking for a trophy, just a good representation of the species"... I would seriously shoot a spike, but it WOULD be cool to shoot one with a few points.

ANY input at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Don

Focus on cow elk. The meat is excellent, the hunt is fun, they make good test platforms for your choice handloads, and they are surprisingly as affordable as they are available! You can still be planning a bull hunt in the meantime, but you will be "out there, doing it"! :)
