Haha. Super simple man. Push it into the sand. Its got a vent tube inside it. You should see the hole in one of the pics. It also has a hole under the handle. Center over the clam tell, push in a good 14" or so, plug the vent under the handle with your finger and pull out all the sand and clam, release your finger, and dig through the sand to make sure you got the clam. They are quick so they can evade you. Check the hole you made to see if its in there if you missed.
So yeah; you've got it. Basically take a core sample and sort through it. Technology is the same as shotgunning a beer. It doesn't work so well on rocky beaches though, so a shovel is good to have too.
