It’s a sad day when any politician thinks they have the power to make a statement like that. It’s also based on an assumption that when you order the military to turn their weapons on its own citizens that everyone complies.
It’s an ugly picture but third world countries with nothing more than AK’s and IED’s have fared pretty well. This is in no way an insult to any soldier. I understand that we play by a certain set of rules and hold ourselves to a higher standard in warfare. That doesn’t always work when the enemy has no rules except whatever it takes to win and that’s exactly what people face if you threaten their way of life. That’s why our government has taken the 1,000 cuts method to our liberties instead of outright taking them away in a broad stroke.
