A unit I'm interested in offers a Type 2 tag with more favorable dates for my schedule. The Type 1 and Type 2 appear to require the same amount of points, though the Type 2 has more restricted access.

Interested in reasons for they would both require the same number of points, yet one has significantly less area available to hunt.

Is it as simple as better season dates that don't conflict with other species? Or, could the hunting be "better," later? This seems unlikely considering they would have already had pressure the prior month.

Appreciate any input.

I think a good portion of the “old guard” are going to be doing what you’re doing, and try to get out before the PP price increase. If you’re not willing to pay the $1,200 special, then the regular odds for the mid range and better quality hunts are pretty dang long.

Type 2 is like mentioned, hunters just trying something different then the typical type 1’s to try and outsmart the draw. The guessing game of the WY antelope draw is pretty fun.

Also, type 2 is a tool for fish and game to spread the pressure out. Most pronghorn are shot the opening few days of season, so they split the hunt into two different start dates.
