Wyoming private roads ….

Charlie Bob,

It's a private road. That means you can't use it unless expressly allowed by the person or persons who own it.

It sucks, yes, but that's how the whole public/private thing works out. If it were a county road, a FS road, a BLM designated route or even a private road with a public access easement, then you'd have a legitimate gripe.

As it appears, you trespassed.
I get it , yes I was in the wrong .
No excuses here , just frustrated with the system.

Gotta add in GPS apps as well. The road issue gets confusing when you use OnX, GoHunt, etc since not all roads are differentiated. It's a good reminder that just because a computer told you something, don't take it as gospel.
I use the route builder in OnX to highlight all legal county roads I can confirm on the county GIS road map for the units I am hunting.

In times like these, the poetry of Chuck D shall keep your head held high.

It's a start, a work of art
To revolutionize make a change nothing's strange
People, people we are the same
No, we're not the same
'Cause we don't know the game
What we need is awareness, we can't get careless
You say what is this?
My beloved let's get down to business
Mental self defensive fitness
Bum-rush the show
You gotta go for what you know
To make everybody see, in order to fight the powers that be

Can’t wait for the thread about how you can’t camp on state ground in wyoming. Another fun one would be about why you don’t need a boat anchor

Have you used this in Wyo? I haven't tried the route builder yet, that would be super helpful if its even 75%accurate. I underutilize my OnX.
Yeah, I use the build route, and "snap to" and then click on your starting point on the road. Drag along the road and it does a pretty good job of following the path. Then I just mark what the county map lists as a county road. Its a good starting point to show accessible areas at least.

Like most things - the real rub usually comes down to money - driven by an ever growing demand and fwps undying ability to print tags.

Apologies if you took me wrong - but i never implied that these were legal public access and i understood that in most cases it was at the behest of the landowner.
I think sportsman do themselves a disservice when they default to it is all about the money. sure the money is a big part of why access gets shut down. Some landowners need the extra cash. If they have a loan out the bank likely they will not have a choice. The banker makes the decision and the banker always sides with the money. From my experience with landowners and outfitters the money might be a plurality but not a majority. Of the several landowners I know that have quietly posted access routs to the Custer only one is taking money for hunting and the reason he went the money rout was not for the money but to eliminate the hassle of managing hunters during hunting season. The others are not taking any money, they just got tired of the stream of strangers driving through the property at all hours of the day. Gets old when you talk to hunters and ask they why they are going this way and they reply. "A friend of a friend that you have never heard of said I could go this way". Get even more frustrating when you find a headless buck on your property like I did last week. Couple of applications of that and you shut down every road you can. Montana's season is now 13 weeks long, it wears on you as a landowner, by the end of the season you just get tired of all the killing and start to find yourself rooting for the deer.
I have been solicited many times by people wanting lease hunting rights. Never had one of this solicitors lead with I will pay you X amount of money. Most often it is some form of we will manage hunting season for you, closely followed by and deal with the undesirables. Often the get in that they will do a better job of management and the quality of the game will improve. The last part is total BS with most. Point is if money is the big hook, You would think they would lead with it. My bet is that they have learned over the years the other benefits will land more leases.
