All NRs needed a guide lol. I didnt even know guided hunts were a thing in the west at that time.

The great TR hunted the world, but never left his front door without a guide, outfitter, wrangler, and the rest of the entourage. Tracking, spotting, scouting, butchering, everything was done by others.

Not quite how I read some exerpts from "Hunting Trips of a Ranchman & Wilderness Hunter". Yes, he was often accompanied by others, but he speaks often of going out alone in the book.

I just finished reading “Great American Hunting Stories” from Lamar Underwood. Many of the stories by TR in that book he was in the company of other trophy hunters and a full camp staff. What it would have been like to hunt like they did back then.
