Wyoming Antelope + ? Any advice?

Ok, planning on going out west for Wyoming Antelope this fall. Looks like I can take up to a week off to hunt (meaning could be out west for 8 days). I am considering trying to do a combo hunt of Antelope and something else... (likely rifle but could also do archery).

I currently have no preference points (except 1 antelope points).

If I go with a combo hunt, I am thinking it makes the most sense to stick in Wyoming to save on license cost. That being said, I am willing to hunt another state if its worth it.

Should I be focused on Mule Deer + Antelope in Wyoming?

Any other suggestions?

Timeframe- Pretty flexible as to when I will hunt during the Antelope rifle season.

Thanks

Yeah, I think that makes the most sense. You’d have opportunities in some of the tough-public-access units to hunt both mule deer and antelope.

Pronghorn and deer is a good combo for 8 days. Don't get hung up on them being in the same area, fill your pronghorn tag first then relocate to your deer area.

Thanks all. Im itching to try elk, if just to get experience under my belt...again I have no points...is there anything that could make sense for me...even if a neighboring state? Throw a couple days at elk then drive over to hunt Antelope. I think I missed the Wyoming Elk draw but maybe there are leftover tags somewhere? Basically would be great to get some elk experience in but dont want to blow my antelope hunt by spending too much time elk hunting and do not want to completely waste my time with Elk if there is nothing realistic in a 4ish days period...

Any further advice?

You might be able to get a leftover cow tag somewhere in Wyoming. You'd have lots of options in Colorado, easy draw or OTC. If you go this route though, I personally would go fill your pronghorn tag first then go buy an OTC elk tag in CO if you feel you have enough time. You could always get lucky quick on elk, but more likely it's going to take several days to halfway figure things out, then usually another day or 2 to get an elk out of the woods if you're successful.

Myself, I'd stick to pronghorn and/or deer, or focus exclusively on elk. A wishy-washy approach to elk hunting is not likely to yield success.
