WY preference point increase

I apply/buy points in AZ every year for 4 species. Deer, Elk, Pronghorn and Sheep. $220. I buy points in WY every year too for 4 species. Moose, Elk, Deer, Pronghorn. $274. So WY was already more expensive. And that doesnt include even applying for a tag or being able to use my purchase to go fishing or small game hunting like AZ.

People love to hunt and they will make life changing choices to do so as cost go up. We see multiple guys relocate out west every year just on this forum. I came a hair of doing it in my late 20s to the point of having several job interviews scheduled.

How long before all those OTC resident tag numbers become a problem? Is it already a problem in at least two western states? I'd argue all day long it is. People honestly should take a long hard look at what they wish for IMO being a resident of the west.

Me moving to Wyoming or Montana now is a thing of the past I'm late into a career and I'm settled now. Many folks aren't, my grandson is considering it after his first trip out west last year and I hope he does. Gramps needs free room and board from Sept-Nov.

Wyoming used to appreciate and acknowledge the non res contribution. It only became a "what the market will bear" proposition after Rob Shaul started his attack on the non res and disgruntled Wyo residents piled on. Has nothing to do with WDFG. That's also what started the task force that advises the commission. It's been said that WDFG runs in the black. Would like to see a profit and loss statement.

Not here to complain about price increases, as I will likely still pay it. YMMV.

I pay for a lot of points every year and it's really no different than cutting a donation check to NPR, AP, NAPF, Wyofile, etc. etc. that I donate to each year.

This. I’d further argue that the relative value of a Wyoming preference point (for DEA, anyway) is far superior to those other states mentioned.
