Would you fish if you had to release all fish?

Yellow perch go into the pail. Legal Walleyes (lengths and limits) go into the live well. Trout and pike can go back into the water.

I used to fish. A lot.
My deal was if I didn't catch a limit in an hour ,the fishing was off. Let a lot of big fish go. Trout. 1/4 mi from the cabin.
Kept one big one to prove there were big ones and it was 10lbs at the house. Smoked that one with friends.

I live in NM now. I fished it for a couple years up north. I caught fish in the San Fransisco in 1963.
Have no idea where my fishing gear is anymore.
Ate some good walleye this week I traded for elk with my WI buddy.

I do release lots of fish.
Way back when in MN before "catch and release"was even a thought.
I remember comments like.
" Let me get this straight, you throw back the big Walleyes and keep the small ones"?
🙄
Honestly!

I love eating fish. It keeps fishing more in tune with hunting, as it was meant to be.

So choosing to C&R - fine.

Being required to always C&R - no thanks.

Some snob, shaming me to C&R a legal fish if I want to keep and eat it - go do the anatomically impossible to yourself.
