Speaking of buck fever, The first deer I ever shot at, I was 11 I think, I would slide a round into the chamber of my 30-30, then completely cycle the action and jack it right out, did that 3 times! Then, the 4th time (the buck was just standing there next to a hot doe wondering what the hell I was doing) I closed the action and just jerked up and yanked the trig, missing cleanly. That was all the chance my dad was going to give me, so he dropped him!
