Why Washington’s wolf count is under scrutiny

Interesting to compare...3000+ here in my state...just a few hundred seems to create a risk if a disease or other depleting issue comes along. Of course management consideration shouldn't stop at state lines.

But I wonder if something the article only touched on is the primary reason for the reduced listing status proposal. Most protections will stay in place.. but there will be more ability to address problem animals.
That could end up being a positive for future wolf population increases if it provides more acceptance of their presence in the first place.
