I’d scout and watch where the deer come out from before putting anything up.

Seems like a good idea. Sneaking into the tree halfway down that eastern treeline and trying to glass the cover might give some clues. Also, without seeing the greater area beyond, hard to tell where you might have restricted shooting angles if we're talking about rifle hunting.

Gotta get on the ground looking at deer travel paths, scat, scrapes, beds etc. are you looking to intersect a mature buck, or just shoot any deer feeding? What’s your goal here?

I would wait until after deer season and I would walk all of the deer trails. And get as many gps marks on those trails as possible and mark the rub locations that you find as well.

Then I would put four stands for hunting four different winds. I would also plan on having a solid entry and exit strategy based on whether or not you were coming in during the dark and leaving in the daylight or coming in during the daylight and leaving in the dark…

Stay out of those holes. That wind will swirl like a bitch in there and that’s typically where mature bucks bed. They absolutely love to be where there is a swirling wind….seen it…..hundreds of times.

Most importantly, have the restraint to only hunt it when the wind is perfect for each set. I kill a lot of deer because adjoiners don’t pay any attention to the wind when they hunt….

^this x1000. Whitetail hunting is primarily a wind game.

You're looking for Deer Highways, the intersections of Food, Cover, and Terrain that funnel deer movement predictably. Forget the open fields; focus on the edges and transitions.
