They have the power of the purse and don't have to fund anything. EOs have very little effect, and are mostly just statements on policy positions. They are not law.

Good luck with that. The main thing that I heard they wanted to stop was ICE and DHS. Fully funded until 2029. Other appropriations have to be bills that Trump can veto.

EOs have great effect and have for the past few Presidents that lost the House/Senate. The only way to stop them is to pass legislation or temporarily via judges ... the President simply vetos if he doesn't like it. You don't have to like it but here we are.

The effect of the election is that Rs can't pass more laws that Trump signs. That's good or bad depending on your perspective, but that's about it.

Exactly. There are some theatrics going on about social issues to keep everyone engaged, but the things that affect everyone stay a steady course. Taxes never go down, Social Security is going bankrupt, new wars, funding other peoples wars, etc. I didn't vote this election for the first time since I was 18. Right or wrong I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of them and I'm not even sure it matters at this point. The trajectory has been the same for a long time.

Democrats would be wise to focus on the things American citizens want; an end to the war, affordability etc instead of hand wringing about illegal immigrants or about the minuscule portion of the population that is confused about their gender.

We want the war to end and ideally the people responsible for it to be punished. Execute them for war crimes for all I care.
Cut off foreign aid including to Israel.
Focus on an economy that doesn’t require a 200k income to comfortably afford a house.

Respectfully disagree on the border, because: ICE killing Americans, no bueno. Strong case to be made that red juggernaut Tejas bent blue this week; because the large hispanic demographic, that delivered for 47 in '24, voted blue in reaction to border policies.

But, it seems CO counts votes about as well as CA. So, who knows when they will finish counting.
