What's on the smoker today?

Figured I’d ask this here cause this is the group that knows smoking.

I’m starting to look at vertical smokers. Leaning electric and not too big, but big enough to do 20-30 lbs summer sausage, etc. Is there a certain size I should be looking at?

Any brands to look at or avoid? Should I look at propane instead of electric? I don’t have the capacity for a legit wood smoker yet.

Any insight is appreciated.
Just go big so you don't have to upgrade later. :devilish:
I just got a Grilla Mammoth and it's amazing (but f-ing huge). After years of dealing with a cheapo electric wood chip vertical, I highly recommend a pellet smoker. May be harder to get an intense smoke it that's what you're after, but it's a lot easier to get a really great consistent smoke and takes a lot less maintenance during the cook.

This is my view as well. Go as big as you can and go pellet. If you find you're wanting more smoke flavor they make those smoke tubes but personally haven't ever had that problem.

Thanks for all the replies. Now it’s time to digest the info and make a decision.

I haven’t gotten into smoking ( cigarettes or meat), but I have a neighbor who’s killing me when he smokes meat. The smell is fantastic

Anyone use a turkey roaster, or any other type of cheap warmer as a holding box for brisket? Id smoke them more often, but my wife won't tolerate the smell of keeping one in the oven for hours. Id like to find something I can leave outside that I can justify financially.

How do you do the crackers?
Since homie left this moron in suspense, I did some googling.

I wrap with foil then a heavy towel and put in a cooler. Have done this for up to 4 hours and still had hot brisket.
