Just go big so you don't have to upgrade later.Figured I’d ask this here cause this is the group that knows smoking.
I’m starting to look at vertical smokers. Leaning electric and not too big, but big enough to do 20-30 lbs summer sausage, etc. Is there a certain size I should be looking at?
Any brands to look at or avoid? Should I look at propane instead of electric? I don’t have the capacity for a legit wood smoker yet.
Any insight is appreciated.
This is my view as well. Go as big as you can and go pellet. If you find you're wanting more smoke flavor they make those smoke tubes but personally haven't ever had that problem.Just go big so you don't have to upgrade later.![]()
I just got a Grilla Mammoth and it's amazing (but f-ing huge). After years of dealing with a cheapo electric wood chip vertical, I highly recommend a pellet smoker. May be harder to get an intense smoke it that's what you're after, but it's a lot easier to get a really great consistent smoke and takes a lot less maintenance during the cook.
