What you all cookin for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

No pictures from last night. We were hungry! One of my best prime ribs yet. Saved the bones for a snack. Had a small square of hashbrown casserole with an over easy egg on it for breakfast and I'm heading for the store for some basics and do some house cleaning now that things are done. Daughter AND granddaughter both fell asleep during Die Hard. Maybe next year.

Went out on a limb this year and tried to do a prime rib. Even ordered it from the butcher counter like an adult. No clue what I was doing but I’ve heard people talk about 6 bone prime rib roasts so that’s what I did.

Should have known something was up when they wanted to escort me to the front of the store.

Turns out I ordered a touch too much for two adults and two kids. Admittedly I don’t have much to base it on but everyone ate it and said it was pretty good. No fancy sides, just glazed carrots and mashed potatoes to keep everyone happy.

Slice it thin and make sandwiches with some of the leftovers.

Did some light grocery shopping today and found 6 or 7 big rib roasts in the meat department. On sale but today was the sell by date. Thought I could get a big discount. Tried to find someone in the department but they were off today. Manager said he couldn't do anything. Tomorrow when they show up they have to pitch them being past the date. There was probably $1500 in meat going to the dumpster. 😞

Looked yesterday as well and they were down to $13 a pound. Am holding out for the "manager special" sale where they mark them down sometimes more then half on the final sell by day. Not many left though so might backfire on me. I did get 4 racks of beef back ribs for about $30 at $3.78 a pound. Not your usual worthless super trimmed back ribs it was obviously the ribs they'd trimmed of the prime rib they'd made boneless and had good meat on them.
