Im not sure most people shoot 1/2 moa.
What is acceptable accuracy in your opinion

1 MOE (Margin of Error) seems to work. It varies on the weapon, weather, wind, light, angle, etc. More about knowing your limits than knowing your MOA. How else would you explain so many misses on game by otherwise excellent shots... Seems a lot of people shoot much farther than their MOE.
My rifle is better than me. It was a 1.5” group at 200 last time at the range, but that was front and back rests, on a table with a chair. The gun is more than acceptable.
I would ethically struggle with choosing a 2 MOA rifle for western hunting, but would (and have) used slug guns with bigger groups than that in Illinois. Just limit the max range to the capability of the weapon + shooter.
I’ve shot deer freehand at 115 (muzzleloader) and closer when I have time and a good target, but I have completely missed animals at 200 yards and closer in the past, even with a good rest. Luckily haven’t done that in a while, but it is an example of how things can go wrong.
Essentially, I won’t hunt deer past a range where I can’t hit within a 4” circle every single shot. If that range exceeds the lethal range of the weapon, then I go for the lesser range.
My .308 is only about a 350 yard gun with the copper ammo. I hunt to 300. I would shoot an elk farther with my bow than I would a whitetail due to how much they can move at the shot. It’s all situational, but for a rifle? I’m happy with MOA accuracy.
