This has been and will continue to be a quiet year. I'm still recovering from an unsuccessful foot surgery last year, so I've had to take it somewhat easy. I can still hike and walk, but it's not as comfortable as it used to be. We've done a handful of camping trips on our local national forest. Hunting season will be limited to late late Colorado elk. Hoping more than ever to put some meat in the freezer for four growing boys!

My current New Zealand plans are:

March - early red deer roar hunt
April - late red deer roar hunt
May - Fallow deer rut hunt
Early June - Late season stag and chamois hunt
Mid June - Tahr rut high in the Southern Alpes.

All of these NZ hunts are in 'draw' hunt blocks in the South Island.

Then an adventure in CO during the fall.
Looked back on this post and had some changes to my plans but happy with the year so far!

March - hunted roaring stags, nothing dropped but plenty of roaring action.
April - daughter had surgery and wife was away so I canceled this hunt.
May - did a MT spring bear hunt instead.
June - hunted tahr and had some success.

Shot 5 deer for the pot.

And plans all in place for a CO deer hunt in Oct.
