My wife just stopped by my work to tell me that my favorite antelope mount fell off the wall. It's was above the stair well and it's about a 15 foot or better drop...onto stairs. So now I get to sit here for the next several hours wondering just how bad the damage is. There's no way it came out of it undamaged, it's a matter of how bad. Since I haven't seen it yet, I have no idea why or how it fell. Kind of a pisser.

This is what things looked like when I left for work this morning. I have a huge knot in my stomach wondering how it's going to look when I get home. :(

Big Sky, Sorry to hear about your mount woes. I have to say that I love the stylized black buck mount you have by the fireplace. It is very graceful, beautiful. I have not seen a mount like that before.

Crap

Evaluation: Two broken ear tips, crack around left eye, and left horn broke at the skull plate. Not real happy, but what can you do. Stuff happens!

Ouch. I was hoping you would find it to be in decent shape. Figured the ears were toast but was thinking the horns would stay intact.

Some taxidermists can do wonders on repairs like that. Hope you can get it fixed and looking as good as new again without too much trouble and $.

Only thing I can think of is use another cape and the horns from your mount and have the taxidermy put it together. Not the same but would still look great.

Man, that antelope is still making memories!!!! HA HA Bet you haven't forgot that day yet!!!

Sorry to hear that Big sky, I had a muley drop and hit a night stand on the way down and lucked out with no damage. Thought a herd of buffalo was coming through the wall because it was like 2 am when it dropped.

Standing there in my tighty whitey's with 1911 in hand ready to fight and then cry when I saw my muley on the floor.

You never know a good taxidermist can work miracles with stuff like this so hopefully this is the case with you.

Thanks Southwind. Same taxidermist did the black buck as did the antelope that fell. It's the only two mounts I have by that taxidermist and she is really good. Here's a couple other views of the same room.
