Went on a land hunting mission this weekend. Headed down as far as northern Arkansas. Found a couple nice properties in MO and AR. One was so cool... it was in the ozarks along the current river area. It was 200 acres, with a 3/4 mile of a crystal clear creek, and a cool cave that i only checked out about 30 feet before i chickened out, and tons of deer sign. The bad thing is it was too remote for my wife's liking for a retirement place in the future. that sucks...
The other one was 120 acres in AR near Branson MO. It was a real pretty rolling oak hills with tons of turkey and good deer population. I am putting in an offer on that one this week after i get more details. It was 15 miles from a 4500 population town called Berryville with hospitals, walmart ect.
There were a couple others that were nice but when i saw a couple of the locals houses nearby with 2 acres of every appliance and car they ever owned in the yard i started hearing banjos in my head ,and had visions of MTmiller saying "you got a purdy mouth boy"
It even spooked my buddy who went with me who was a cop.
I

Schmalts, I wish I had known you were coming down. I live outside of Nevada, Mo. If your looking at retirement property the ozarks is the place to be, BUT if your looking for deer and turkey that may not be the best place. Theres nothing down there but acorns and rocks for them to eat.
If I had it to do over I would buy 20 to 30 acres next to Four Rivers conservation area (15000 acres) and hunt it. There are alot of big deer in there and tons of turkeys. It is mainly used buy the duck hunters so the deer and turkeys are not pressured.
If I can help you out just let me know.

Where is that area?? is it close to any big towns with hospitals and stores?
I am looking for a blend of hunting and weather.
Miller, they have elk in the county that this property is in. They gave out 15 tags last year.... season started 4 years ago for the first time since they re-introduced them.
whats cool about AR is i really feel that that state may be a good hunting for deer soon since they put statewide antler restrictions in place 3 years ago. Some areas even have up to a 5 pt rule. Land is pretty cheap too, about 700 an acre as an average.
Miller, I would love to go west but by the time i am old enough to retire i doubt i will be able to hike those mountains anymore, Much less pack out an elk. Besides, i got all the elk i want where you live, and NM,CO, and wherever else i draw a tag.. Half the fun of hunting for them is the trip!!

I don't why you thought I cared about your hunting opportunities. I just need someone to leach from. It is all about me man.
