We need moisture...

Can't flood irrigate without the streams having water, thankful for very early water rights for the meadows where we irrigate.
Soil moisture sure helps but we have to have flowing water to irrigate, that is where the snowpack comes in play.

Well the tide has changed some. Locally we got the best snow and moisture content we have had all year. Not sure what it will mean in overall water totals etc. But for now miles and miles of land that was bare dirt now has 3-5 inches of good wet snow. Drift fences hat minimal snow holdings are now up. This is definitely not a fix to the current over all lack of moisture but a step in the right direction especially considering we just had a couple weeks over dry warm weather...

Yup. Now if we can just get some spring rain!
Calling for more snow next couple of days here on the East base of the Bighorns. Hopefully it comes to fruition.

We definitely got a good shot of moisture this last week here in the Lander area. Heavy wet snow last week and then last night to today we have over 7" that is light and fluffy and still falling. The areas that were bare dirt 2 weeks ago now have significant snow cover and drift fences that were empty have filled up a chunk. Not as much as normal but atleast they have some piles now.
