There are only a few spots in Texas where you can do a walk-in rifle hunt for hogs. The one I like best only allows it through the end of March, so weekend before last I packed up my old Steyr M95/30 with the aperture sights, left waaaay before dawn and made the drive out there. It took several hours of still-hunting (and avoiding some other hunters) but finally I walked up on a sounder of hogs. I had a shot at one of the smaller hogs, so I popped it. The hog ran off into the brush without much of a blood trail, but I found it after a short search.
Sorry about the somewhat graphic photo. The 8x56 round did the job and then some on the little pig.
