Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any experience hunting bears in southwest Virginia? I will be staying in Gate City Nov. 11th through the 14th. As far as I've been able to find, the closest public ground is the Clinch Mountain WMA which is just under an hour and a half away from where I'll be. I have 30 acres of private ground to hunt where I'm staying and they say that they see a bear occasionally on their place. They're not hunters though, and don't spend much time out there that isn't on on 4 wheelers.
So would it be worth it to try to hunt the 30 acres or should I make the long trek to the WMA? Any tips anyone would like to share with a bear hunting novice?
