About a month ago a seen a few different broods around my place in West Central Wisconsin

My contacts in Northern MN said they've seen a few broods this year, and are expecting a decent year for ruffed grouse.

Doesn't speak to hatch success, but a buddy spends a lot of windshield time in grouse country. He has hit three with his truck this summer. That hasn't happened in years, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
This little bastard will be 9 months old this weekend and I'm hoping to get his grouse education started a bit before season opens. Hope springs eternal I guess, and young grouse are good for a young grouse dog.
