Unit 48 1st season vs 49 2nd season Colorado

Does anyone have any recent experience with either of these units in the rifle seasons? Looking to apply next year with 8 points. I have the ability to hunt remotely with a utv/backcountry camp or a light horse camp. It appears lots of high harvest on bulls (20-30%). Seems like very glassable terrain from visiting Leadville on the eastern side. Thanks for any direction and please pm.

I would not do 48 with 8 points unless u want to try muzzleloader. I have hunted 1st rifle 3 times. Great hunt 1st year - late rut. Struggled last 2 hunts.

Pagoda, did you end up doing 2nd season 49? I’ve found a lot of post on 49 but it’s all in reference to muzzy/archery. I’ve got a 49 2nd rifle and haven’t connected with anyone that’s hunted that.

I drew it, but with everything going on I returned the tag during the 5 day period in early June. Best of luck it’s beautiful country.
