Dont be afraid to drive some of the checker board areas. There are some that border ag or areas with water - you can catch them transit through the public.
It's open out there, but take your time to glass under the few bushes, trees, or tall vegetation... you'll find deer. Some people work the caprocks, but I never had success out there.
Lots of dove out there to play around with too.

Like lostinthewoods said hit that checkerboard and little sections of state til you find deer up in the flats. Lions have decimated the deer herds in the Caprock.

Was a decent hunt was able to go out for 3 days with one of those days being scouting seen a bunch of small bucks on the scouting day. Didn’t see him until the last 2 hours of daylight and ended up getting lucky!

Careful posting pictures of deer and the unit they were taken... I just added it to my list of places to apply for next year lol pretty decent draw odds/success rates

Draw odds are good because hard to find good deer in that unit. They are there but it's got extremely tuff the last couple years. Original poster got lucky lucky lucky

As stated by @Valley1320 I got very lucky didn't even see a buck till 2 hours from the end of the season.
