Thanks for the info will be doing a lot of scouting will update on findings, only 30 tags for the unit so if the info will help other get the deer that great. was going to start around cold creek area first.I live in Vegas and have never drawn that deer tag, but I hunt small game in the area regularly.
As you probably already know, deer density is very low in the Spring Mountains.
I found a nice antler shed in Lovell Canyon about a mile southeast of the Torino Ranch once. Note that target shooting was banned in Lovell Canyon but hunting is still allowed.
If you have a good 4 wheel drive with tough tires I'd suggest doing some scouting along Wheeler Pass road, stopping and hiking around wherever you see a spring on On-X or a similar mapping app.
Wheeler Pass Road is at times very rough dirt road that goes between Cold Creek and over Wheeler Pass towards Pahrump.
Elk and wild horses seem to dominate around Cold Creek but I bet there are some nice mule deer a little lower in elevation there.
Please post a report of your trip(s) when the season is over, I have always wondered if I would actually be able to fill a Unit 262 buck deer tag if ever draw one despite living in the area because I am pretty sure every live deer I've seen in the Spring Mountains was a doe.
