Feel free to PM me. I grew up in all that country and have helped and guided a good number of bulls in the NW corner. Actually helped a gov tag hunter in 2 last year.Good evening Jhunter80!! I'm not sure if you are still active on the forum but that was a great story I enjoyed reading it. I have been reading forums and post about area 2 and 201 and I believe that I have settled on area 2, bigger unit maybe less pressure. I've done some research and spoke with the game warden, and I should draw muzzleloader with 34 pre. points. My wife and I drove thru the area last year and I plan on going down and putting boots on the ground soon !!
Thanks Spearman from Montana !!

There were multiple bulls taken out of unit 2 last year that were in the 370 to 390 class. Arguably the best year I’ve personally ever seen in NW corner for bulls. The elk were heavily concentrated on the few water sources that were available. This bull was living around 2 other bulls that were over 370. One of them was taken by an archery hunter and the other a muzzy hunterGood Grief!! That's a fantastic bull
In addition to a bad ass elk, ya got a badass beard too.Feel free to PM me. I grew up in all that country and have helped and guided a good number of bulls in the NW corner. Actually helped a gov tag hunter in 2 last year.

That’s not me in the picture with the bull. That’s the tag holder….In addition to a bad ass elk, ya got a badass beard too.![]()
I'm starting to get excited about the hunt ! I have actually killed more elk with a bow than a rifle. But we all know the limitations of a bow so its going to be the muzzle loader for this hunt. I'm getting my Knight MK-85 ready for spring bear in Alberta so hopefully send some pics by end of May !@Spearman I hope you stick around. We need more hunting stories, and I’d hate to see you get run off before a hunt where you burn 34 elk points. Good luck. Pretty cool to be in your position. I hope to hear about it.
Gellar I will certainly share everything I learn from the area as I will never get the once in a lifetime tag again !!!I think someone has 33 Elk preference points and is dissapointed to see someone with 34 preference points is planning to apply for the same tag they were!
@Spearman I hope you stick around. Share stories about your other elk hunts you've been on and let us in on the adventure of drawing such a coveted tag from draw to scouting to packing out! 99% of us are never going to have 34 preference points in CO so I dont see the harm in sharing intel.
If you get the tag feel free to PM me I have hunted the area and been there with others several times. Id be glad to help. If possible take a UTV. You can do most off the area with a truck but the UTV gets you there faster without damaging the truck Good luck.Good evening Jhunter80!!
