It's also hard to know who to believe in this day and age of the news being posted on a social media platform or main stream media site. I try to not watch the news and the only time I usually do is when there is something going on with the military and military operations. If you do some digging around you can find things that are open source in favor of how things are going with russia and their military, casualties, etc and also on the ukraine side also. You almost have to have eyes and ears on the ground from those that have seen it to believe anything anymore.

Decades went by without the Saudis having a path to a nuke. They wielded a lot of clout in the oil market, all of that time, as they still do. They need to sell oil, as much or more as the world needs their oil. That has not been great leverage to obtaining nukes.

It took a special president to make this come to pass. One of the few things that held since WWII is the number of countries possessing nuclear weapons remained pretty static. We are witnessing an unraveling of that.

One of the larger aspects of Trump's legacy is his putting another country, in a volatile region, on the path to being a nuclear power.

I don't think it will happen in my lifetime, certainly it will come to pass in my grandchildren's lifetimes. It is a Pandora's Box.

Finally, I don't think electric vehicles and this development have much connection.

Of course not, but it doesn't happen that way anyway. It takes time. But the vitriol from the White House on anything not linked to the Jurassic is ridiculous. Over 20% of new vehicle registrations in Europe are electric. This is partially because the cost of gasoline is much higher. It is also because they let China import small, and cheaper, Evehicles. They are making economic decisions. Americans love to just sit on the internet and complain about the cost of gasoline. We built the Alaska pipeline the last time we were held hostage by Mid East oil, but that was a one-time fix. We didn't learn anything and are just so reluctant to change it is almost sad.

Some people need and use a vehicle the electric automotive companies do not offer. And live in areas not suitable for everyday use of them. Can't see heading for the Breaks in a cyber truck. mtmuley

I don’t see either one of those points being “issues” any more than the myriad of issues with fossil fuels. How many billions have we spent on wars in the Middle East to protect oil supplies? What if that same money had been spent upgrading the grid and generating capacity instead?
