Beings that I didn't have to work today because of the 'holiday' , after getting the brakes fixed on my truck I decided to haul some water. The area I'll be hunting for deer season is in a wilderness with no water around so I hauled up 6L today so as to not have to next weekend. While scouting last week I ran into some ruffed and blue grouse so I decided to pack the 20ga. along. Last week I flushed 5 birds and got shots at two, with both being misses and one was sitting still!!! Long story short...

Here's one from the field:

I will say this, 20ga #4 high brass sure does a number on 'em when you hit 'em!

3) Now that you have a job, why don't you throw out $10 and buy a cap that isn't falling apart.

Good luck with the deer hunt, I am looking forward to hearing about it.

Also, give me a hollar about Wyoming possibilities next year.

Later and congrats.

BTW, my wife thought that story was pretty funny.

'Gunner- That wingmaster sure has seen some rough times! But, it never fails and I never clean it. May look into refinishing the stock this winter, but should probably just go shoot something instead.

Looks like you got some nice tender breasts there, congrats, those should be gooooooood eaten.

Looks good, 1_p! I had to chuckle at your point about heavy load number 4's...I can say with some authority that heavy load number 6's in 12 gauge at short range will do a number on pheasants, as well.

So what do you do...just a six pack of water up there and hope that no one steals it?

Hey 1 pointer

Congrats on the birds awesome pics..
If you ever get to AZ maybe we can swap out a bird hunt. scale, gamble, mearns.
What do ya think....

DG- I hid the water a bit under some downed logs. I saw very little evidence of human traffic this far up, so I'm not too worried about them disappearing.

cougar44- That may be a deal! Though I don't have a dog (yet!), I'm starting to get a real hankering for this upland bird thing.

I struck out on the sage hens.

I didn't get to go opening day and the spring I'd planned on hunting around had been ran through by a group of about 20! There was much more traffic in the area than I had anticipated and the birds were very scattered. Due to work at the time I only got one day to chase 'em.
