That hasn't been my experience in ID or IN (the only places I've called turkeys). I've located them with the owl, had the gobbling just off the roost and dead within a few minutes. That said, I only use it in an attempt to get them to gobble on the roost. Once daylight hits or I think they've flown down I put it away.

Spot on again 1pointer. I have a few diffrent farms that I hunt and I hoot in the pre dawn to locate occasionally. I have noticed that if you switch it up and go with say a coyote howl instead of the hoot 3 or so days in a row, that it gets a better reaction. I got them to gobble last year with a goose call, so anything that is loud will get them to shock gobble.
update...just got back from Kansas on Monday and I must have packed my "lesbian" turkey mouth calls, because, I called in over a dozen of them and not a long beard in tow at all. . .saw tons of turkeys, but, not in the cards. . . (yet).

Hoot at them in the evening,put them to bed and they will be there in the predawn. I've had good luck with a hawk call when runnin and gunnin during the day.

17HMR if you are set up within 50 yds of feeder, .204 if you can make a head shot at 150 yds, or I will loan you my .416Rigby if you need to make a body shot.....

Okay, I have given in to a stool and better calls and camo and even decoy(s)-----I kilt my first one around 50 years ago with a Nitro Hunter Break Down SS 12ga wearing blue jeans and a red flannel shirt while scratching on a piece of real slate I picked up from a creek bottom using a hickory limb that I had whittled on with my hawk bill Schrade....charcoal from last nights fire on my face....

BTW. my World Salam says I do know how to kill one without some new fangled electronic motion decoy or a rifle which I use for Sheep, Elk or DG in Africa.....feel free to make all the fun you wish too....
Now go kill a turkl burd and remember being motionless is still best ploy-----gotta go to Cabelas now.....they just came out with latest greatest camo......

Are there really places it is legal to use an electronic turkey call?
