Trout fishing south of Rangely?

We have a third guy coming along on our elk hunt that doesn't have a tag? He is interested in doing some fishing while me and my buddy are hunting. Any decent fishing south of Rangely Colorado?

Nope, there isn't even much water of any kind south of Strangely. You'd have to head east up the White River, probably past Meeker and most of that is private.

Your friend could head north towards the Yampa river if he wants to catch catfish and perhaps some huge Pike. It's sort of close to 31 if a few hours drive time round trip isn't a problem. Probably not why your friend is coming for though. Park headquarters and the dinosaur display are in Utah.
