Trapping Thread 2025/2026

A bobcat had been checking out this junk pile so I made an exposed walk through on the other side of that log and put some bait in that pipe. I thought I had my trap anchored off good enough to the pipe that nothing could get back underneath the junk pile. I was wrong. When I started digging the pile apart I was really hoping I wasn’t going to find a skunk or a lion as I’ve caught one about 100 yards from this spot before. Was interesting fishing that fox out of there. Used my catch pole to get around the trap to pull him out and deal with him

I’ll probably annoy you all how many times I’ll say it in this thread, but I just love these 1.5s.

Same blind set from yesterday on a well used trail around ag.

Back to back day catches on it.

1.5’s and coons just go too well together. Love seeing it! If you get a chance, would you take a picture of your blind set? Never set that way on dry land for coons, just in the water.

Very cool thread. No experience trapping to speak of but I can imagine the excitement of seeing whats in the next set.

Started my annual tradition of taking the nippers to the Christmas tree to make cubby sets for cats. The spruce limbs stick in the ground nicely and the natural angle of them makes great sets. Made two today. Will make 3 more tomorrow. One coon in a DP today. That’s a couple turkey nests saved.

What are those of you living with freeze/thaw with no snow doing (besides wax dirt) I can’t seem to make enough wax dirt to make it where I don’t have to act like I’m saving it. I’ve put salt and it does stop the freezing for the most part. Share ideas here please.

Disclaimer I am NOT a predator trapper. But my son does a little bit of it and has used some of the coal shale from NO BS lures and had pretty good luck with it. It was expensive like $45 for 5 gallon shipped but he liked it enough to he is going to order some to be picked up at the FTA convention this year to save on shipping
