It's really easy to underestimate how smart they are.

We were talking with a bear bio in WY once about whether or not griz are smart enough to figure gunshots = food. His response was basically "We have no direct evidence but they can teach bears to ride unicycles in Russia, so anything is possible."

There were frontiermen/indians that trained to be pets, just like Gentle Ben on Grizzly Adams

Sheep hunting north of pahaska on the north fork. Got to 40 yards or so, popping its teeth like they do...medium sized boar.

Woke up in Alaska to a sow and 2 year old brown bear ripping my buddies pack apart about 30 feet outside the tent.

He shot next to the sow into the lake about 3 feet from them. Didn't even look up. I shot a softball sized rock about 6 inches from the sows hind foot...that got her moving off. Probably should have killed both those bears.

True story i said something similar to comes with the territory to little guys Mom and she was not impressed at ALL!
I promised to not take him to that area anymore. We fish there all the time. Never see anyone else, I think I know why now. Haha

I pretty much expect to be around grizzly bears anywhere in Montana and Wyoming these days. Need to pay attention and act accordingly.
