Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Thinking of moving back, Harley

The OP started it.

:)

Lots of awesome things about Texas, including some of the Texicans.

All of the reasons in post #1
I remember if fondly, mostly... ropin n' ridin, Co beer on a sat night w/ lots of two-steppin.
Starched wranglers that would almost stand up by themselves.
Never got to liking ropers tho.
Black Felt Stetson in the winter and straw white in the summer.
Pheasant hunting, wild pigs.
Used to walk out the door in the morning to the 'smell of money'.
Practically expect that you were carrying. Surprised if you weren't.
Lot of 'yes Sir' and ' No mam". An armed society is a polite society.
course, this was west Texas, as opposed to them soft luggage, citified types
that Harley hangs out with

"to the 'smell of money'. "

Sounds like the diner downwind of the feedlot. You get used to it by the time the gal brings the 2 dollar special...

Galveston & Corpus, Punk shows at the Axiom, watching the club girls dance at Numbers, outstanding Mexican & Vietnamese food, shrimp trucks, tamale trucks, cheap booze & concerts at the Summit. Hanging out at the cool shops on Westheimer, skate parties at a buddy's townhouse complex, running from the cops in the park next to our house...

Houston wasn't all bad to be an out of control teenager in. ;)

When I was a kid my family lived in TX out in the country. At the time I thought it was great. We used to play out in the cotton fields, catch crawdads on the irrigation canals and gig frogs in them at night.
Thankfully my parents moved to NV in the 60's. A few years ago after visiting family still there my then 80+ year old mom asked "wouldn't you like to live in Texas again?" 😱 Never ever would I move back there.

Is it really that bad? I mean, sure Texans have a very high opinion of their state but if that's the worse thing about it that's not too bad.

Personally, I would just have a hard time being away from the mountains.
