Testosterone Replacement

Fella's to summarize and I'll stop posting, Get your T levels checked. I never new mine were so low. I thought it was just age. I'm 46. You don't want to be sitting on the couch when you could be experiencing life like you could/should at the fitness level you should be at.

Yea everyone seems to enamored with the morning wood here and skipped over the fact borny said he has a brain tumor! Praying that it is manageable like elkmag said.
They thought I had that too. MRI proved otherwise. That type of tumor is typically managed with medicine and not a significant concern. The procedure to remove it is minor (as far as brain tumors go) but not worth it unless absolutely necessary.

Get your PSA checked.

Never had a T problem, that I know.
But @ 67 Everyone said I had sciatica issue. Way more than just nerve pain. Went and got a MRI @ ER.
PSA was 419.16, stage 4 Prostate cancer metastasized on my bones. Tumor on left hip.
Lucked out that it bypassed my prostate and organs.

My PSA is now .04.
Prostate Cancer thrives on Testosterone......You do you.

Yep, they check mine annually now that I'm on it.

@Borny1 you levels were definitely in the tank - but over training is pretty common with CrossFit. I wonder what your levels would have done with a 6 week break from CrossFit?

Good question. I've always read working out elevates T. My levels on the juice now are 350 -500. I've only belonged to the cult for three years. A year or so before that my legs were still always tired. The only reason I ever found all this stuff out was due to a change in insurance. I asked for a blood test that checked everything. That's where they found the low T, which led to finding the tumor. I had zero fatigue today on a walk with my buddies.

I've been on testosterone for 4 years now. My levels were right around 275 and now are balanced between 600-800. It was life changing for me. Brought back all of my energy, sex drive, muscle mass, and quality of life. The only negative effects I got from it were a little acne from time to time, and my balls shrank by like 50%. But, after 2 kids, who really needs those things bangin around anyway.

That’s true to a point. It definitely will when you go from being sedentary to working out, but working out is also a stress on the body. Too much stress = high cortisol which does the opposite testosterone.

I’m always surprised how good I feel when I dial back my workouts for a couple months. It’s something that really needs to be cycled in a couple times throughout the year.

Are you all seeing any side effects from being on testosterone shots
I been on them a while and not sure it’s doing any good but seem to sweating a lot more since starting
Thanks

Old thread but I’ll jump in here. Been on TRT since I was 30, so 15 years my testosterone was at 17. Been ran through the a lot of doctors. Your tumor is likely on your pituitary gland which contols hormones, you are correct in that they are usually benign and don’t operate unless they grow. Working out too much and under eating for too long is a huge testosterone killer. Cross Fit and being healthy is a whole other topic for discussion. After 15 years I finally got myself dialed in where I feel great. A lot of doctors even hormone doctors don’t understand testosterone or understand that different men feel good at different levels. One person might feel amazing at 400 and another feels in the dumps. It’s all about monitoring your levels and seeing where you feel the best at. Finding a doctor that will listen to how you feel and not just reading your levels is very important. As stated PSA should be monitored. I break my injection into twice a week so I don’t get the ups and downs of the once a week injection. The every other week that I’ve heard men doing to me is just crazy. Too much testosterone is just as bad as having too little and the side affects can be even worse. I’ve found that I stay between 900-1100, with injecting .3ml twice a week and that is my sweet spot. For some men that might be too high and you WILL notice side effects Make sure you test your blood at the same time during your cycle, so that you get an accurate measure of where your at, mid cycle, is best. TRT typically is for life, and make sure your done having children if possible before starting. I’ve learned a lot over the years if anybody has any questions please ask, TRT can be a very frustrating there’s a ton of forums just be careful on the advice given

This is more common than the opposite these days with all the environmental exposures out there. Since the chemical diaspora of the 50s, there have been literally thousands of endocrine disrupting chemicals that have become ubiquitous. It's easy to throw up your hands in defeat because of how extensive the list is, but there are a lot of them you can control.

My levels were around 400 as a 25 year old professional athlete. When I went down the rabbit hole of things to avoid- plastic food storage containers, receipt paper, oxybenzone sunscreen, scented deodorant/ soaps/ laundry detergents, plastic water bottles, and unfiltered tap water- I ended up in the high 500s.

Just food for thought before resorting to needles and doctors.
