Hi there-
I was filling out my choices for NM archery Elk and notice the dates for the 2018 season choices I was gunning for are the same as for Utah Limited Archery. Seeing as though the odds are so slim across the board, I cant imagine this is a huge problem, however, if you were lucky enough and drew two tags that had conflicting dates (not specifically in regards to elk or archery as in my case, but generally speaking) is it state specific if you can turn the tag in for a full/partial refund, or do you have to forfeit the tag in some cases? Just wondering, and I have scoured the posts and hunting regulations for a few states with no luck. Thanks in advance!!

Great!! Thank you so much. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Good luck this year.

I have applied for over 70 tags in an applications season but only about 40 to 50 were active where could draw a tag and rest were Point Only. Since sheep are 1 in 400 odds generally for non-resident and goat/moose/rifle bull rut are not much better then did not sweat the multiple tag thing for those species. Deer and especially pronghorn and resident tags are easier to draw in many cases so I would pay attention there. Most years would have a pronghorn tag and one "hard to draw tag". Some years would not draw anything and one year drew 3 pronghorn a moose and deer tag so 5 tags. Another year drew goat, deer, elk and pronghorn. I can take a lot of vacation but even two tags is a lot to plan for for out-of-state DIY hunting. Remember, even a 1 in 20 odds pronghorn tag means you should draw once between now and 2038. Applying for 20 tags that are 1 in 200 odds means you should draw just 1 of those 20 hunts each decade and will strike out 199 times.
