Good evening all,
Wondering if anyone has experience hunting the Grassy Lake Reservoir / Ashton–Flagg Ranch Road area.
I’m a Montana guy, but one of my buddies from ranger academy recently landed a permanent position in Yellowstone. He grabbed a general elk tag and was pointed toward this area by a few folks.
We went down this past weekend to scout. The terrain is definitely different from what I’m used to—pretty country, but not much elk sign to speak of. Plenty of grizzly bear sign, though.
Not asking for spots or handouts—just wondering if this area is worth investing time into for archery season, and how hard it tends to get hit once the season opens.
Appreciate any insight from those familiar with the area.
