suppressor length on hunting rifle

Negative- I was sticking to looking at suppressors that were specifically made for 6.5mm rifles. It does look good though, I like the specs. Drank the kool-aid with Thunderbeast.

Pretty safe bet I will be getting more in the future; I like tinkering.

If you're thinking 6.5 specific, the Q Jumbo Shrimp is an awesome can, 6.5 bore, 5.7", 9.2oz. I've been using mine on my 6arc rifles, and it sounds amazing, better than the bigger cans I was using before it got approved. That being said, I have hunted suppressed for 8 seasons. The vast majority of that has been with 30cal cans that are 7.9" and 11.3oz on 20-24" barrels. I have no problem with this length in the field. I very much prefer shorter barrels, but I also like a certain level of ballistic ballistic performance and will carry a longer gun if that gets me what I'm after. I will be getting a Scythe though, it seems to be the perfect balance for what I'm after.

Griffin sportsman ultra light .338 on my remington 700 270 win, I had the barrel cut to 18" and threaded for the suppressor. It's very quiet and still getting 3000fps out if it with reloads. My second is Omega 300 on my remington 700 7mm-08 18.5" barrel very quiet.

I have a Bergara Wilderness Carbon in 7prc 22" barrel with a nightforce nx-8 4-32x50 f1 on it. Total weight of the setup is roughly 8.5(9.2# with the harris bibod) as it sits now.

Looking at the Diligent Defense L-TI or the S-TI.

The L-TI is 8.25" of overall length at 10.5oz pewscience score of 51.9
S-TI is 6.75" of overall length at 9.3oz pewscience score of 42.5.

Is the length and weight of the L-TI going to be a big deal? Hunting bear,elk and deer out west and whitetail from a stand in WI. Also doing some long range bench shooting.

I like the suppression of the L but have never ran a can before so don't know about the length issue or non issue.

If you’ve ever shot a weatherby with a 26” barrel and a 2” brake it would be the same. My 26 inch rifles that have 8 inch cans are not fun in the woods or getting out of the truck. I still like more suppression than worrying about inches. In the woods you will only shoot once or twice. But chances are you shoot more then that the rest of the year. The added suppression to me outweighs the length issue. Unless it’s for a kid.

The Dead Air Nomad 30 adds approx 5” to any of my bbl’s. Works great on 20”

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but my 24” seekins with about a 6” Rex silentium doesn’t bother me at all to carry around. I feel like it should be too much but it feels good in my gun bearer on the pack and doesn’t feel awkward.

Here’s an 11” TBAC 338 Ultra on a 338 RUM with 30” barrel. It’s obviously not a timber gun haha. For the rest of my hunting, I usually have my Gunwerks 8” suppressor on my rifles from 18”-26” barrels.



The TBAC Dominus is a good option that’s slightly shorter, but has a larger diameter than the Ultra series, so it still suppresses very well.
