Steel Gong Target Setup

We built a 1000 yard range at a friend's property. AR 500 steel is a must, as has been said, but you also will still want to moderate what you shoot it with at closer distances. I punched a nifty little 7mm hole in one of our plates checking zero at 100 yards the first time out. We used chains at first, then switched to pieces of conveyor belt, those held up pretty well, but after a while they wore out as well. We've had the best luck using lengths of 3" fire hose. I used a torch to burn two holes in the targets then rolled the hose around a piece of 1" bar stock, then bolted them to the targets. They've held up for almost 3 years with that set up.

Bringing up and old post. What thickness would you use for 300 win mag at 250+ yards? 3/8"m or 1/2"?

tri 3/4 in electrical conduit from home depot. You can get corners online or pm me if you are interested. some chain and you are good to go. set up your range for less than 100$

Looks good. I just made a hanger for a T post with a piece of square tube and a bolt today. Hopefully I’ll get to test it in a couple of days.

That's what I have. Got the corners from JCSteel. Use electrical conduit for the legs and a piece of rebar for the cross bar. Fits in the back of the Bronco or truck and I can set up and take down in minutes anywhere. I have 4 different AR500 targets and use either chain or conveyor belt to suspend off the rebar.

2 t post with 2x4 across the top held with number 9 wire. 20 inch chain connect to nm 500 gong. Works
