Hopped on a last minute trip for work to Spokane next week and should have a few days of down time between events. Obviously tough situation out there right now, but I imagine there are some decent places within a day's drive to hike in and throw a few flies? Good fly shops to pick up a few local patterns and talk shop? Thanks in advance for any recs.

Most decent fly fishing is in Idaho. Silver Bow Fly shop is a good place to call and check with.

If you drive over to Coeur d'Alene, Mineral Ridge and Tubbs Hill are a couple nice easy hikes with lake views. Downtown is touristy but enjoyable if you haven't been before.
Agree on checking with Silver Bow, they'll likely recommend Idaho. Flows are very low but you can find some fish. Stop at the Snake Pit for a drink and food.

Snake pit and Silver bow on the itinerary!
Best fly shop is Northwest Outfitters but I’m obviously biased cause a buddy of mine guides for them. Dudes on the scene can tell you better than me, but the walk n wade stuff will be much better in ID. If a spot look fishy, it probably is. I’m sure the terrestrial bite is getting going rn. Prichard Tavern is my place for food and beverage when I’m out that way.
Silver Bow does floats on the Spokane River which can be good, have heard good things about that fly shop although I’ve never been there.

Silver Bow and Northwest Outfitters are both good. I hit up the North 40 fly shops too (in CDA and Airway Heights). If you have a river in mind, Castaway (NF CDA) and Idaho Fly Fishing Company (St Joe) are solid too. Hatches are sparse and water is getting low.
